Week 4 - Bonus Lesson

Place Training and Door Manners

If your dog gets super excited about visitors and door greetings, watch this tutorial for some tips.

Make it easier for your dog by teaching them what to do, and set them up for success with plenty of practice, gradually increasing the challenge.

Lesson 2 - Double Lead game

If you have a dog that gets super excited when you get the lead out, or when you clip it on or off, this game will help with that!

Practicing this game as a separate exercise (ie not when you are about to go for a walk!) will see the lead become a trigger or cue for attention, rather than a predictor of excitement.

Lesson 3 - Sit, Drop, Stand

A final review of our 3 obedience positions and how to progress these exercises.

Lesson 4 - Magic Hand

Building on “catch” from last week, this game is a great one to get you past a distraction while out on a walk.

Lesson 5 - The ability to listen when distrated

It happens a lot, your dog is so focussed on a distraction that they simply can’t tune in to you.

This game helps with that, we get them focussed on a distraction (food!) and gradually teach them to also be able to listen to us while they have something else on their mind!

Lesson 6 - Progress your loose lead walking

Keep practicing, start adding different turns and perhaps change pace.

Lesson 7 - make your rewards an experience

Sometimes even a tasty food reward can seem a bit boring, think about adding to the reward experience, animate yourself, play with your dog, maybe add a game of chase into it, throw in an orientation game or Funder.

Think about what your dog enjoys and incorporate that into your rewards!
